BERKLEY ROAD (London)

The extension and refurbishment of an end-of-terrace house in Primrose Hill. The original extension (an elongated arrangement of rooms extending as far as the back garden wall) was replaced with a side infill of glass. The alterations required large structural elements to hold the upper floors in place and to restrain the lateral loads of the houses along the terrace.

Because the new extension is enclosed within a greatly reduced external surface, we were able to provide energy efficiency calculations demonstrating that the fully glazed roof would comply with building regulations - as well as naturally lighting the core of the interior.
